The Right To Information Commission (RTIC) will be celebrating this year’s RTI Month on Wednesday, 23rd September, 2026 in Accra on the theme “UPHOLDING INFORMATION INTEGRITY IN THE DIGITAL AGE: THE ROLE OF ACCESS TO INFORMATION IN ADDRESSING INFORMATION DISORDER.”
Prior to the national celebration, the Ashanti Regional branch executives of the Commission visited the studios of Ejisu-based Okese 106.5 FM to create awareness on the mandate of the Commission.
The team was made up of Mr. Ishaq Duffuor Kyei-Brobbey, Senior Officer and Madam Bridgit Agyemang-Badu, Assistant Manager.
Speaking in an interview with Worshippa, host of the morning show on Okese FM, Mr. Ishaq revealed that the Commission has the power to assist anyone looking for information from any public institution, provided the information does not fall under exempt information as stated in the RTI Act, 2019 (Act 989).
According to him, if any government agency or public institution refuses to give out information, citizens can petition the Commission and the Commission will compel them to release it.
On her part, the Assistant Manager, Madam Bridgit Agyemang-Badu disclosed that so far the Commission has five (5) branches across the nation with the headquarters in Accra.
She mentioned that there is a branch in the Ashanti Region, Bono Region, Upper East Region and Central Region, with the motive of establishing more branches across the remaining regions before the end of the year.
She encouraged Ghanaians to take advantage of the RTI Law to demand credible information and help fight misinformation and fake news in the digital age.
