Veteran Ghanaian Hiplife pioneer, Ex-Doe, has finally opened up on one of the most controversial moments in Ghana’s music history.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with GardenCityNewsGh.com in Kumasi, the ‘MABA’ hitmaker admitted that he deeply regrets starting the beef/diss agenda in Hiplife music.

Ex-Doe, who shot to fame in the late 90″s early with Daavi Medekuku the first ever ewe language hiplife song in Ghana alongside his colleague Chicago and later released his monster hit ‘MABA’ in early 2000,he used the song to throw heavy punches at his colleagues Chicago and the originator of Hiplife, Reggie Rockstone.

The song, which was one of the first diss songs in Ghana, sparked a nationwide debate and is widely credited for starting the beef culture in Ghanaian music.

But over 20 years later, Ex-Doe says he was young and didn’t know better.

“I was young at that time. Looking back now, I regret those moments. I wouldn’t want the new crop of musicians to follow that path. Beef doesn’t help. Unity is what will push Ghana music forward,” Ex-Doe confessed.

He has therefore advised up-and-coming artistes to focus on making good music rather than using diss songs to trend.

The revelation has since sparked reactions on social media, with many praising him for being bold to apologize.
