Botsyo Nkegbe rises high Ghana Flag at the Desert Challenge 2024.

Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, a three time Paralympian from Ghana has made headlines at this years Desert Challenge in Arizona, Minnesota. He managed to win a gold medal and a silver medal from the IPC sanctioned qualification for the Paris 2024 Paralympics.


The Desert Challenge 2024 track racing always gives me memories of when I did my African record in 2019 said by Nkegbe. In the T54 100m , he came second with his personal best of 14.95s which is a positive results of B- but he is pushing himself very well to fall into the A category of times.


Raphael competed in the wheelchair T54 200m and won Gold with a time of 28.40s which was also good for his preparation. In wheelchair racing, Nkegbe is a Sprinter but normally warms up himself with the 400m and the 800m.

He has one more major event to do before he leaves back to Ghana and it’s the Switzerland Grand Prix which comes on from the 15th of June, 2024. He is now back home with his host family in Spokane, Washington. A lot of thanks goes to Mr. Jonathan Biron and his family for their good works they keep doing for Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe.

He is training adequately for the representation of Ghana at the Paris 2024 Paralympics and he is pushing himself to make the mark in the A category of the IPC sanctioned qualification track races.

Ghanaians will be very happy to see his dream come true and also win the nation a medal at the Paralympics.
