The Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Hon.Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, has intensified his community engagement tour across the Ejisu Constituency, distributing major development items and accounting to his constituents.
The tour, which has seen the MP move from community to community, has brought huge relief to residents battling sanitation challenges, darkness at night, and lack of youth support facilities.
In the latest phase of the tour in Ejisu akyeremade, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng donated:
solar-powered street light bulbs – for the community
giant refuse collection dump containers,
Football jerseys and footballs for the youth
Additional cash of Ghc2,000 for the community to support the fixing and installation of the bulbs.
According to the MP, he has so far distributed 20 giant refuse containers to 20 communities across Ejisu, with a promise to extend to all communities facing sanitation issues.
Addressing chiefs and residents at separate durbars, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng stated that the street lights are meant to improve night security and allow residents to move freely and safely after dark, while the refuse containers are tend indiscriminate dumping and promote clean communities.
The most striking part of the tour, however, was his political messages “Everywhere he goes, he interacts with chiefs and residents to account to them for the privilege given to him to represent them in Parliament and also to seek their support for re-election.”
Residents and chiefs present commended the MP for his open-door style and for returning to account to them, a move many described as rare.
The distribution of jerseys and footballs was also welcomed by the youth, who say it will revive community football.
The community engagement is still ongoing, with more communities in Ejisu expected to benefit in the coming days.
