Ghana’s young discovery at the Cana Zone 2 Aquatic Swimming Championship

Ghana’s Jada Yankey shines at the Africa Zone 2 Aquatic Swimming Championship held in Accra, Ghana 7th to 9th October 2024.

12 years old, Jada Yankey made the airwaves in competitive swimming at the Cana Zone 2 Africa Aquatic Swimming Championship that was held in Accra.The young Ghanaian swimmer took charge of her journey in swimming at the Africa Zone 2 Aquatic Swimming Championship, showcasing her talent by competing in multiple categories such as; 50m, 100m,200m, 400m and 800m Freestyle.

Jada also completed in the 200 and dreaded 400 Individual Medley and a variety of mixed relay events including butterfly and breaststroke.

 


In a remarkable feat, Jada faced off against swimmers aged 13 to 20, demonstrating not only her excellent technical abilities but also showing strong composure and excellent awareness in the pool. Her performances proved challenging for her older competitors, solidifying her reputation as a formidable swimmer and one to keep an eye on in the coming years.

She has already being accepted in the hearts of her fellow Ghanaians who are excited and pray to see her win an Olympic medal in swimming one day for the country.

Jada won a total of 13 medals, 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze
